XAIR Performance specializes in the manufacture of Over The Radiator Cold Air Intakes for Commodore and has been manufacturing this type of product for over 10 years.
The main advantage over other OTRCAI ‘s is the Venturi effect created by the top shape of the XAIR OTR Body combined with the Filter Size. A massive volume of Cold Air from in front of the Radiator is rammed/sucked straight through the filter then channeled directly up and around the curved top section creating a Venturi effect and forcing its way into the Throttle Body.
The XAIR OTR has the largest air filter panel on the market, the filter size is 460mm x 180mm. Extensive testing and research has proven that the larger the area, the less restriction & servicing required. This also makes them ideal for head & cam modified cars etc.
The filter brand is Green Filter – known to be one of the best in the world (as used on World Rally Cars) and proven to flow substantially more than other brands such as K&N etc. In 99% of applications the Green Filters do not require re-oiling, simply wash with warm soapy water every standard 10,000km or 15,000km Service! A unique feature of all XAIR OTRCAI’s is the ability to run them with the factory air flow meter (MAF) left in. So unlike other products that require the car to be mafless tuned to work you can now bolt them straight on without a tune to get INSTANT POWER GAINS AND FUEL SAVINGS. (Custom ECU tune will yield the best performance results)
The Standard Kit includes Breather Line Extension Hose for VZ and Attachment Hose for installing with the MAF.
There is also a pre-drilled hole in the back of the OTRCAI Body with rubber bung for plug in of the separate Air Temp Sensor if Tuning MAFLESS on VZ.
*Optional insulation for the bottom side of the intake to deflect Radiator heat soak.

Excellent Product
Fairly easy install, only took an hour or so. Instructions could be a bit more comprehensive, but overall not bad. Product fits well (though having the dynaliner makes for a snug fit) and performs as claimed. No more power loss from heat soak after driving the car for an extended amount of time. Would recommend to any V chassis owners, it’s the only CAI worth your time and most money. Shipping was also fast. Great product

X-air review
Great OTR intake. Direct feed into the throttle body. Installation took roughly 3 hours to install, due to cutting, trimming the radiator shroud. Also, do not waste money on the Caspers breakout harness. Unravel the existing MAF wires to creat length to the harness. You will need to cut the coupler that comes with the kit down to roughly 3 1/2 in to mate the MAF to throttle body. Noticeable results.

it is a great intake , it just needs a longer filter , it is somewhat misleading on the size but overall im happy with it. install was easy but i dont use a shroud. small increase down low in the power band, much nicer feel than the fender cai.

Noticable gain
Definitely can notice a difference. The first time I drove it I ended up hitting the Rev limiter in 1st and 2nd, it wound out a lot faster. After 4 years I got used to the cadence of wot shifts. Also, the car doesn’t get sluggish after sitting in traffic on a hot day anymore either. Which is fantastic. The best thing I’ve done to the car so far……the neighborhood Mustangs don’t think much of it though.

Negative: if you don’t have stock intake parts. You will need to purchase additional parts. For the price I was expecting for everything to come with it. Had to purchase (2) additional clamps and 4” silicone coupler. This my reason for 4 stars

I’ve had a number of different cold air intake systems. This was the easiest to install. In my case, I really had to do no trimming to the radiator fan shroud other than removing the lug that the radiator cover clips into (2004 GTO). Plenty of hood clearance. The kit came with everything I needed for the install. The housing is made of robust cast plastic and has a nice even finish (I got textured plastic). I was also impressed with how well the filter fits into the housing. There will be no leaks around the rim of the filter I’m sure. Customer service was also great before, during and after the sale.
